Importing Umbrellas.

288610_row_of_parasolsUmbrella’s used to be something we would drag out as defense against the winter rain.  Do you remember?  They used to be black or dark blue or dull, plain colours.  Today we use umbrella’s to protect against the sun as well as the rain.  They have become a fashion accessory, now, haven’t they?

If you decide to import umbrellas you will find that there are many types to choose from.  Colourful, patterned, plain, large, small, adults, childrens, toy and real……  The list goes on.

You could build a business around umbrellas in general or your could specialise in a particular style.  Even better, you could design and manufacture your own.  Why not design a line of modern ‘parasols’?  We are very aware of the need to protect our skins from the summer sun and a parasol or sunshade would be very useful.  Create a theme – lacy parasols or racy sunshades.   Design beach umbrellas.  You could even specialise in parasols for burlesque performers!

Don’t stop there, though. What about umbrella accessories?  Somewhere to store them, something to stand them in while you like under them, something to help attach them to the baby stroller when it isn’t needed.

Umbrellas will need to meet the Australian Safety Standards. The standards are especially strict if you are making umbrellas for children.  As long as you know what the standards are you can design your line to meet those requirements.   We have a great ebook called “Success with Importing Fashion Accessories” which will help you to get started.

Now go and have fun creating a new line.

Happy importing
